Course Name: FREE DRAWING TECHNIQUES AND ARCHITECTURE

Weekly Class and Application Hours: 2-2

Short Course Description: Free hand drawings of selected buildings and their surroundings in the historical areas of Cyprus; Besides contour, blind contour, reference lines, tone and color information, it is also examined how the shadow falls on the building facade and the object by drawing exactly, thus gaining the student the concepts of scale, ratio, rhythm and balance. In order to support the course; For each course, students will be asked to draw an important work that has left their mark on the history of architecture, as well as to collect information about the building and its architect. During the course hours, in the light of the information collected, the views and attitudes of the architect, working methods, the shape, form, material, color-texture relationship and the contribution to the architectural culture of the building will be discussed and discussed in the conversation environment. Among the architects and their works that can be considered; AntoniGaudi – SagradaFamilia, Frank Lloyd Wright – Fallingwater House, Le Corbusier – Ronchamp Church, JornUtzon – Sydney Opera House, I.M. Pei – Louvre Pyramid, Frank O. Gehry – Gugenheim Museum, Norman Foster – Millennium Tower.
