Course Description:Ecology and evolution of major groups of organisms. Natural selection. Functional relations of organisms with their biotic andabiotic environment. Adaptation strategies. Population dynamics. Ecological communities: species interactions and trophic networks. Ecosystemstructure and function. Ecological succession. Biogeochemical cycles. Natural and semi- natural ecosystems (e.g. agro- ecosystems).Conservation of biodiversity. Major types of environmental pollution and their role in degrading and destabilizing the environment. Ecologicalrestoration.
